This spectacular 2 oz silver coin is the second one from “The Warriors” series. The given series is dedicated to the warrior heroes of the past, in this case, it is Ariowit – an ancient Germanic leader and a legendary warrior.
Ariowit was from a brave tribe that is why he stood out among others by his unprecedented bravery and determination. He was so strong that once he even forced Julius Caesar to make peace and give away his sister. Because of his strength, a robust body, and a truly hellish appearance, he threw a scare into his enemies long in advance the battle started. While fighting, he made use of both his congenital wild nature and brilliant intelligence.
The coin is rimless and partially gilded. The reverse of the coin contains the wonderful high relief image of Ariowit, with the background village behind him. The elements related to him, like the Celtic drawings of wolves, were hidden on the handles of the sword. Details on the face of Ariowit and the head of the wolf are very sharp. Eyes look almost alive. The obverse of the coin presents the part-gilded sword of Ariowit and the Coat of Arms of Germany.
