This breathtaking black coin is the newest issue of the Golden Enigma Edition and features the Canadian Maple Leaf in gold and all filigree details. Struck from 1 oz silver .9999, the coin is a unique combination of black and gold: it’s plated with black ruthenium and 24K gold! The worldwide mintage is limited to 5 000 pieces.
The obverse of this black maple coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin and its issuing year.
To achieve the unusual black surface of the coin, it was coated with silver-gray ruthenium, one of the platinum metals that looks like platinum but is rarer. The black ruthenium reverse features a relief maple leaf, Canada’s treasured national symbol, gilded in 24K gold. Throughout history, it has gained importance as a Canadian symbol, to the point where it is now the most recognizable symbol of the country. The legends on the reverse include the name of the issuing country, weight and metal fineness – 1 oz silver 9999. Housed in a black luxury box with a numbered CoA inside, the Golden Enigma 2015 – Maple Leaf coin is a desirable collector’s item!
