What is love? Love is both ecstasy and torment, freedom and slavery. Poets and songwriters would be in a fine mess without this feeling they worshipped and were inspired by. Sometimes, it seems it is love that makes the world go round. A lovely romantic coin has been issued by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus to become a perfect gift for such occasions as the Women’s Day, St. Valentine’s Day or birthday.
The obverse of the silver coin features the stylized image of the “tree of love” with hearts all over its branches. Around the tree, there are the inscriptions in Belarussian, Russian, Polish and English indicating the name of the coin. Along the rim of the coin, one can see the legends denoting the name of the issuing country and the coin’s face value.
Represented on the reverse, there is the image of two charming cats in love surrounded by a romantic ornament. So many great words have been written, spoken and sung on the subject of love, yet no one can give the proper interpretation of this phenomenon. Its definition has challenged and confused thinkers, writers and artists since the beginning of time. "One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: That word is love." – said Sophocles. According to Mark Twain, love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired. Erich Fromm considered love to be the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence. The upper part of the coin carries a beautiful heart-shaped insertion of corundum to fill the coin with awesome charm and make a strong impression on your beloved one.
