This stunning flamboyant coin is the second issue in the Glass Art series and dedicated to the world's most popular handwork, the Murrine Millefiori of Murano in Italy. Struck from 20 g silver 999 in proof quality, the coin has a diameter of 65 mm, enormous for this weight. Its special decorating technique comprises small glass discs being slowly melted in a mould to form the required shape, which is then set into a silver coin. Thus, uniqueness is achieved and no two coins are the same!
The obverse bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin and its issuing country.
The reverse of this artwork is a relief multicolored heart in the center of a glass disc with unique patterns. The glass processing technique Millefiori was already known in Ancient Rome and is nowadays mainly continued on the island of Murano near Venice. The finished artwork explains without words why Millefiori means ‘thousand flowers’ in Italian. The new coin is truly eye-catching, one of the best ways to tell ‘I love you’ or simply make a unique gift for life! The mintage is limited to only 999 pieces worldwide.
