In 2018, Macedonia presented the fourth coin in the “Zodiac Sign” series, and this issue is dedicated to the Aries. This astrological sign is determined by the period when the Sun passes through the Aries constellation, and which lasts from March 21 to April 20. In ancient Greek mythology, the Aries is associated with Chrysomallus, the flying ram that provided the Golden Fleece.

This stunning square-shaped silver coin features a delicate cobalt glass insert and selective gilding. The reverse side depicts a golden ram and the Aries constellation. On the background one can see the image of a star atlas “Firmamentum Sobiescianum”, created by Johannes Hevelius, and the cobalt insert. The inscription indicates the name of the sign “Aries”. The obverse side shows the four Atlants holding the celestial sphere circled by a line with zodiac symbols. The cobalt insert features the Aries constellation. The background shows a part of the sky map and below is the image of a solar system.
