This is the fourth coin of the intricate series featuring engraved and painted flowers and detailed rendering of a creature that is native to Canada’s natural landscape. This 25-cent colored cupronickel coin is dedicated to a beautiful Water Lily and a Leopard Frog, one of Canada's most widespread amphibians.

The portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II is represented on the obverse of this Canadian coin. Along the rim of the silver coin, there are the inscriptions indicating the Queen’s name and the Latin title standing for By the Grace of God, Queen.

The reverse image renders the vibrant colors of the yellow pond lily (Nuphar variegatum) in full bloom with its outer cup-shaped petals spread to reveal a dazzling circular pattern of stamens inside. A leopard frog is peacefully basking in the sun’s rays atop the flower. One of Canada’s most widespread amphibians, Northern leopard frogs are smooth-skinned green, brown, or sometimes yellow-green frogs covered with large, oval dark spots. They grow from 2 to 4.5 inches long. Along the rim of the coin, there are the inscriptions indicating its face value, the issuing year and country. Encapsulated and housed in a Royal Canadian Mint-maroon box, this coin will make an excellent gift for nature lovers as well as an exquisite addition to any collection.
