The Gemini Zodiac Series Art by Kagaya Proof Silver Coin 2$ Niue 2011

The mercurial transformations of a Gemini’s mood and expression are as fascinating to observe as the psychedelic shades and lights in pictures created by Yutaka Kagaya. It’s not easy to tell where reality ends and illusion begins. They go together - then they separate. In this sign there are always two people, and the changes in his/her character is very interesting to watch.

The obverse of the extraordinary rectangular silver coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Denomination of the Gemini coin and year of issue, are placed along the edge of the obverse as well as the graphic symbols of zodiac signs.

Illustration of the coin’s reverse portrays the Gemini under the majestic wings of a Zeus who in this picture, following the myths, is represented as a glorious white swan. Two brothers Castor and Pollux, one inherited tenderness from their mother Leda another – Pollux, received the star from Zeus (that is, the gift of immortality), and shared this gift with his brother. Man or woman, Gemini can effortlessly get out of any situation, they are impatient with conservatives and can be acutely satirical with people who can’t make up their minds where they stand on particular questions. Gemini trust only themselves. They are rather strangers in this planet. A graphic symbol of the zodiac sign and inscription with its name in Greek and Latin and relevant dates are indicated on the silver coin reverse.
