Probably the most well-known symbol of luck extremely rare to find has inspired the creation of the Ounce of Luck series of silver and gold coins by the Republic of Palau. The series has been issued annually since 2010 and it carries a bit of fortune inside each coin following the famous saying “Better an Ounce of Luck than a Pound of Gold” which makes us reconsider what is really valuable in our lives.
On the obverse of the lucky coin, there is a stylized composition including a shield with Neptune holding his trident, a mermaid by his side and an open treasure chest. There are also the following inscriptions: the face value of the silver coin and its issuing country.
A genuine four-leaf clover is embedded on the reverse of this 2018 lucky coin making it a nice keepsake to bring a little fortune in someone’s life. The proven design has changed little over the years and so it is noteworthy that the 2018 edition features a slightly reworked design update that stays true to the series history while offering a delicate and modern new look.
