The obverse of this Elephant coin is distinguished by the State Emblem of the Somali Republic. The inscriptions surrounding the coat of arms include the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year.

The black ruthenium reverse features two relief elephants gilded in 24K gold. Considered the largest animals walking the Earth, these majestic mammals can be found in 37 countries of Africa. Elephants keep the savannas clear by eating shrubs and trees which helps the grass grow.
