The new exciting series of silver coins by Tuvalu feature the fictional ships from literature and folklore we have heard or read about but never seen in reality. This coin of 99.9% pure silver has been named after the legendary Pequod from Melville’s Moby Dick and issued with the limited mintage quantity of 3 000 pieces worldwide.

The obverse of the Tuvalu coin displays the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. The inscriptions that surround the portrait include the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, the issuing country and year as well as the metal fineness.

The Pequod and the white whale by her side are beautifully struck on the reverse of this silver coin capturing the whole drama of the story. This whaling ship commanded by Captain Ahab in his pursuit of Moby Dick appeared in the 1851 novel Moby-Dick by American author Herman Melville. Painted a morbid black and adorned with whale bones and teeth, the Pequod is in the hunt for Moby-Dick, an effort which is destined to fail. The inscription at the bottom of the coin indicates its name. The Pequod pure silver coin comes housed in a wooden case in the shape of a book and is sure to impress those collecting unique coins of high quality.
