This breathtaking ruthenium and rose gold plated coin is the second issue in the Eclipse of the Sun series and features a detailed image of Walking Liberty. Struck from 1 oz silver .999, the coin is a unique combination of black and gold: it’s completely plated with black ruthenium and partly with 24 kt rose gold! The worldwide mintage is limited to a mere 888 pieces.

The obverse of the coin bears the relief of heraldic eagle with a shield, holding an olive branch in the right claw and arrows in the left. Above the eagle, there are several rows of stars, symbolizing the states. The face value of the coin, its weight and issuing country are also indicated on the obverse.

The black ruthenium reverse features a relief figure of Walking Liberty wrapped in folds of the flag, with her right hand stretched out and branches of laurel and oak in her left hand. The Walking Liberty design is one of the most celebrated and well received designs of all US Coins. The sunrise at the background accomplishes the striking and iconic image of the Liberty to grace the new coin. To achieve the unusual black surface of the coin, it was coated with silver-gray ruthenium, one of the platinum metals that looks like platinum but is rarer. Housed in a luxury wooden box, the new panda coin is a desirable collector’s item!
