The obverse side features the detailed view on Forbidden City with the agate inlay in the center, the Republic of Palau coat of arms to the left and face value on the below obverse.
The reverse side of the coin demonstrates the rich interior of the Forbidden City, in particular the front view of the Emperor’s Throne. The inscriptions denote the name of the coin and the year of issue. Nobody was permitted to enter the palace without a special permission of the emperor, which defined its name. Forbidden City was the imperial palace for twenty-four emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nowadays it is also known as the world's largest palace complex that covers 74 hectares.
