The legendary Tiffany Art series is represented by impressive 2 oz. pure silver coins with extremely limited mintage of 999 pieces. This 2011 Tiffany coin is dedicated to Manueline, the rich and lavish style of architectural ornamentation of the beginning of the 16th century, sometimes referred to as Portuguese late Gothic.
The excellently decorated obverse of this Palau coin represents one of the few surviving examples of Manueline architecture - the Santa Maria des Mosteiro dos Jerónimos abbey in Belém enriched with a red glass pane according to the Tiffany glass tradition. As the traditional attribute of Palau coins, there is also a stylized composition including a shield with Neptune holding his trident, a mermaid by his side and an open treasure chest.
Finely reflected in impressive detail, the reverse of the coin pictures the the famous window in the chapter house of the Convento de Cristo in Tomar, a unique monastic fortress known for its exceptional mix of architectural styles as a result of its construction lasting for five centuries. This side also comprises the same red Tiffany-style glass pane breathing life into the whole antique-finish coin design. The legendary tradition of Tiffany stained glass employed a full palette of colors and patterns to create unique and iridescent pieces of art. At the bottom of the coin, there are the legends denoting its name and issuing year. To those collecting exquisite coins or simply art lovers this Tiffany coin will be a real catch as well as a perfect gift idea.
