The Renaissance Madonna coin program launched by Andorra contains 5 exclusive silver issues glorifying the image of Madonna created by the most renowned artists during the Renaissance period. The 3rd release comes under the title Madonna and Child under Apple Tree by Lucas Cranach.
The obverse of the Madonna coin bears the Coat of Arms of the Principality of Andorra. Skillfully depicted below, there is the upper part of the Renaissance column decorated with artist palettes on both sides. At the top of the obverse, there is the inscription indicating the name of the issuing country, the face value of the coin and the issuing year.
The gorgeous reverse features the full colored copy of the world renowned masterpiece by Lucas Cranach depicting Madonna with the child under an apple tree. Being an incredibly skillful artist, Cranach depicted the Virgin as incarnation of the world majesty and beauty, the true queen of the earth outlined by stunning panorama spreading in the background. The undeniably precious baby with a timid smile and rich combination of warm pastel shades of emerald green, red and golden yellow evokes feelings of tenderness and peace. Be one of those lucky to admire this incredible and unique release with the limited mintage quantity of 3,000 fine silver coins!
