This amazing 1 kg silver coin is created to celebrate the 500th anniversary of a prominent and most admired works of art by Leonardo da Vinci – the Last Supper.
The Last Supper was created in the late 15th century by an Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. Now it belongs to the list of the Western world's most recognizable paintings. The painting reproduces the scene of the final meal that, as it is told in the Gospel of John, Jesus shared with his apostles in Jerusalem before his crucifixion. Leonardo da Vinci described the consternation that occurred among the Twelve Apostles when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him.
The peculiar feature of this coin is not only its weight (that equals to 1000 g!) but also a beautiful rectangular shape. Note that the mintage is limited to only 99 pieces for global distribution.
As for the design of this coin, the reverse features the wonderful and detailed image of the famous Last Supper painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The obverse of the coin portrays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Beautiful piece with an excellent display wooden box – really worth buying!
