The second Mongolian coin in this exciting new series called Evolution of Life features trilobites on its reverse, including a large detailed, red-gold gilded one in high relief against a natural looking background. Made of 1 oz silver 999 with antique finish, the coin has got a limited worldwide mintage – only 999 pieces. It comes packaged in a stylized timber box, accompanied by a CoA.
The obverse represents the composition which consists of the Bank of Mongolia emblem and the following inscriptions: the face value of the coin, its weight and metal fineness.
The trilibite on the reverse is intricate in detail, accurately realised and set on a natural looking background. The contrast between the red-gold fossil and the antique finish background is perfect – a visual force that attracts the eye. Trilobites are remarkable, hard-shelled, segmented creatures that existed over 520 million years ago in the Earth's ancient seas. They went extinct before dinosaurs even came into existence, and are one of the key signature creatures of the Paleozoic Era. The smallest known trilobite species is under a millimeter long, while the largest include species from 30 to over 70 cm in length.
