Just like in previous years, this series, which is sold out annually, presents itself with a new country of issue. This awesome silver coin issued by Mongolia showcases one of nature’s wonders – the Aporia Crataegi (the black-veined white), a large butterfly found in Europe across Asia and Mongolia all the way to Japan. Struck from silver 25 g silver .999 in proof quality, the coin comes in a stylized wooden box. The mintage is limited to 2 500 pieces.
The obverse represents the the Bank of Mongolia emblem and the inscriptions indicating the face value of the coin and its issuing country.
When you turn the coin around, the reverse side fascinates you at first sight! The designers chose to depict the butterfly in full color, and 3D, which is a perfect decision to let collectors enjoy the perfection of this delicate creature. The butterfly was placed here using the special 3D technology, so its wings rise above the surface of the coin as if it was about to flutter away. The flower in the background enhances the insect's finesse, so the overall impression made by the reverse is better than great.
