The Niue Island is glad to present absolutely splendid Zodiac series in which the elegant pure silver coins are decorated with fantastic illustrations of modern Japanese digital artist Yutaka Kagaya. Yutaka is a "digital" artist; starting since 1995 he has been creating his wonderful paintings with the help of computer technology and the light pen.
The obverse of the Virgo silver coin features the effigy of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II who is a sovereign of the Niue commonwealth. Denomination of the silver coin and year of issue, are placed along the edge of the obverse as well as the graphic symbols of zodiac signs.
The reverse design of the coin depicts a wonderfully executed picture of goddess of agriculture and harvest known as Demeter. Her virgin daughter Persephone had been taken by force by the Hades - god of Underworld. Demeter rescued her daughter but was made stay in Underworld during four months every year. The Virgo is one and only zodiac sign featured as female. The first feature you’ll probably notice about the typical representative of Virgo sign is the definite impression he/she gives that there’s an important problem on his/her mind Virgo’s struggling to solve out - or a enigmatic feeling that he/she is secretly worried about something. This sign people are individualists of practical nature. Virgos define and create their destiny in much clearer way than the other zodiac characters. Under their serious manners purity of thoughts and aims is concealed.
