Beautifully designed, featuring the most well-known of the five living rhinoceros species, this innovative coin of Niue is sure to generate a great deal of demand among collectors. Issued as part of the Endangered Animal Species series, the coin is a unique piece of art with the limited mintage of a mere 2 000 pieces worldwide. Fine .999 silver in proof quality, vibrant digital printing and a genuine Swarovski insert make the Black Rhinoceros coin truly gorgeous!
The obverse is decorated with an effigy of Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its metal fineness, issuing country and year.
The eye-catching reverse displays two colored Black Rhinoceros as well as the map showing their natural habitat. The magnifying glass is embellished with a brown Swarovski crystal. Despite their name, black rhinos are actually grey and are distinguished from other species by a pointed, prehensile upper lip, which is adapted for grasping leaves and twigs. Unfortunately, the animals are now considered as a critically endangered species – the strong demand for rhino horn is a constant threat to small populations. This high quality coin of exquisite design is sure to enchant even the most demanding coin collectors!
