Beautifully designed, featuring Grevy’s zebra, this innovative coin of Niue is sure to generate a great deal of demand among collectors. Issued as part of the Endangered Animal Species series, the coin is a unique piece of art with the limited mintage of a mere 2 000 pieces worldwide. Fine .999 silver in proof quality, vibrant digital printing and a genuine Swarovski insert make the Grevy’s Zebra coin truly gorgeous!
The obverse is decorated with a stylized tree featuring endangered animals outlined on its leaves. There is also a small effigy of Elizabeth II and the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its metal fineness, issuing country and year.
The eye-catching reverse displays two colored Grevy’s zebras as well as the map showing their natural habitat. The magnifying glass is embellished with a red Swarovski crystal. The largest of the living zebra species, Grévy's zebra can be distinguished from the other zebras by its larger ears and narrower stripes. Their stripe patterns are as distinctive as human fingerprints. This species is now only found in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia, for it faced a catastrophic decline in population in the 1980’s and 1990’s. This high quality coin of exquisite design is sure to enchant even the most demanding coin collectors!
