Issued as part of the Endangered Animal Species series, the coin is a unique piece of art with the limited mintage of a mere 2 000 pieces worldwide. Fine .999 silver in proof quality, vibrant digital printing and a genuine Swarovski insert make the Red Ruffed Lemur coin truly gorgeous!
The obverse is decorated with an effigy of Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its metal fineness, issuing country and year.
The eye-catching reverse displays two colored Red Ruffed Lemurs as well as the map showing their natural habitat. The magnifying glass is embellished with a red Swarovski crystal. Red Ruffed Lemurs measure up to 56 cm with a tail length of up to 62 cm and weight about four kilos. They’ve got a thick coat of deep chestnut red fur, well suited to the wet and chilly environment of Madagascar’s tropical rain forests. Unfortunately, the animals are now considered as an endangered species due to human encroachment and possibly selective cutting of the most precious hardwoods. This coin is sure to enchant even the most demanding coin collectors!
