The collection “An artist breaking the rules” is a continuation of the best-selling series “Golden Five”, issued on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Gustav Klimt’s death. This marvellous silver coin is the third release of it, coming after the “Expectation” and “Judith I” coins. It is dedicated to “Emilie Flöge” – one of the famous paintings by Gustav Klimt.
Gustav Klimt exerted a significant influence on the history of art. His attitude towards painting resulted in a new quality in fine arts. Women may have dominated the work of Gustav Klimt. “Emilie Flöge” was painted by Gustav Klimt in 1902. Now you can see it in your own eyes in the Vienna Museum.
Emilie Floge was the lifetime partner of Gustav Klimt. She was one of four children whose father was a master craftsman of Meerschaum pipes. Emilie learned to be a seamstress and became a successful businesswoman, establishing and running her own boutique couture house. One of her sisters married Gustav Klimt’s brother and so Emilie was introduced to Gustav. She soon became the favourite muse of his, appearing in many paintings.
The coin is created from fine silver Ag999. The reverse of the coin contains a wonderfully coloured image of Emilie Flöge. The obverse of the coin depicts the Coat of Arms of Cameroon. The coin is decorated with the Baltic Gold – Polish amber. The mintage is limited to 555 pieces for global distribution. If you are a true connoisseur of art, it is a must-have coin to your collection.
