The obverse of this Elephant coin is distinguished by the State Emblem of the Somali Republic. The inscriptions surrounding the coat of arms include the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year.
The black ruthenium reverse features two relief elephants gilded in 24K gold. Considered the largest animals walking the Earth, these majestic mammals can be found in 37 countries of Africa. Elephants keep the savannas clear by eating shrubs and trees which helps the grass grow. The legends on the reverse include the names of the coin and series as well as the metal fineness. The gilded trees and birds at the background accomplish the iconic image of the elephants to grace the new black and gold coin. To achieve the unusual black surface of the coin, it was coated with silver-gray ruthenium, one of the platinum metals that looks like platinum but is rarer. Housed in a black luxury box, the Golden Enigma - Elephant coin is a desirable collector’s item!
