Released as part of the extremely popular Masterpieces of Art series, this new silver proof coin is dedicated to Liberty Leading the People, the painting by a French Romantic artist Eugene Delacroix who was the leader of the French Romantic School of painting.
The obverse of the Cook Islands coin traditionally bears the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Along the rim of the coin, there are the inscriptions indicating the Queen’s name, the name of the issuing country and the face value of the coin.
Thanks to the pad printing technique, the stunning reverse design features the true to life copy of Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People embellished with a total of 17 genuine Swarovski crystals. Dedicated to the 1830 French Revolution when lots of rose and fought for their liberty, this artwork depicts a woman bearing the tricolor flag and leading the French people forward over the bodies of the perished. Above the image, there is the inscription indicating the name of the series. The lower part of the silver coin includes the legends denoting its issuing year as well as the name of the great artist.
