This new 2017 coin by the Cook Islands is struck 25 g silver 999 with low mintage – 2 000 pieces worldwide. This Shades of Nature coin is dedicated to the smallest bird in the world that barely grows larger than the diameter of this stunning coin. The coin is partially gilded and boasts very fine details of the reverse image thanks to the latest micro minting technology.
The traditional obverse of the Cook Islands coin features the portrait of Her Majesty Elizabeth II surrounded by the following inscriptions: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin and its issuing country.
Akin to the previous issues, the relief comes to life by means of masterful precision laser engraving accentuating and shading the fine structures in the hummingbird’s iridescent plumage and the flower’s petals. The delightful little bird stands out in smartminting© high relief; it seems as if the hummingbird literally flies out of the coin!
