Experience the great mythological figures of the past presented through the minting technology of the future – double high relief technique! The concise 5-coin collection impresses with spectacular designs depicting Griffin, Mermaid, Phoenix, Sea Monster and Wizard. Each piece is struck from 2 oz silver 999, 40 mm in diameter with reverse proof. The five silver coins can be sold individually or in a specially designed collection packaging. The mintage is strictly limited to 1 500 pieces worldwide.
The traditional obverse of the coin by the Solomon Islands features the effigy of Her Majesty Elizabeth ІІ. Among the inscriptions, there are: the Queen’s name, the face value of the coin, its issuing country and year.
Every coin carries the privymark of the collection. The reverse astounds with its high relief in the shape of a wizard. The word ‘wizard’ is derived from the Middle English word ‘wys’ (meaning wise) and the suffix ‘-ard’. Therefore, a wizard was basically a wise man, up until around the middle of the 16th century AD. Prior to this period, the distinction between magic and philosophy was blurred. It was only after the 1550s that the word ‘wizard’ gained its present meaning, i.e. one who has magical abilities.
