The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – The Story of Creation!

A few years ago we came up with an idea to create something original. Back then, a mythology trend had just started, so in order to challenge all these heroes and gods of antique times we wanted to create something really new. A source of inspiration for the new coin series was found in “The Book of Revelation” by John the Apostle. The book describes some fantastic and complex imagery that has been inspiring humanity for two millennia.

The mystical book became reborn in the well-renowned series of woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer and Jean Duvet. Another Apocalypse-themed creation can be found in Chateau d’Angers, France: the oldest medieval tapestry in France that preserved ninety bright scenes of the “Revelation”. We couldn’t omit these splendid pieces of art, so, keeping them in mind, we started working on the idea of how the future coin series would look like.

On the first coin of the series you will see the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. According to the “Revelation”, the first four seals of mysterious scroll break – and here they come: Conquest, War, Famine and Death. Being inspired by the story, our artist reconsidered the images of the horsemen and breathed a new vision in them.

The Alpha and Omega sign, which you can see in the center of the obverse, bears a deep meaning, symbolizes God and his concept as the beginning and the end of all existing. The four allegoric figures stand for the Evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The Apocalypse series will include three coins in total. This way, we plan to retell the scope of “The Book of Revelation” with bright and memorable illustrations.
