This wonderful 2 oz silver coin is the second issue in the "Four Heavenly Kings" series. The Four Heavenly Kings are four Buddhist gods, which originate from the Indian version of Lokapalas, each of whom is believed to watch over one cardinal direction of the world. In Chinese mythology, they are known collectively as the “Fēng Tiáo Yǔ Shùn” (simplified Chinese: 风调雨顺; traditional Chinese: 風調雨順; literally: ‘Good climate’) or “Sì Dà Tiānwáng” (Chinese: 四大天王; literally: ‘Four Great Heavenly Kings’). In the ancient language Sanskrit, they are called the “Chaturmahārāja” (चतुर्महाराज), or “Chaturmahārājikādeva”: “Four Great Heavenly Kings”. The Hall of the Heavenly Kings is a standard component of Chinese Buddhist temples.

The given numismatic piece is dedicated to Chiguotian – the king of the east and god of music. He was harmonious and compassionate and protected all beings. His symbolic weapon was the pipa (stringed instrument). He used his music to convert others to Buddhism. Chiguotian was often associated with the white colour.

The reverse of the coin depicts an ultra-high relief image of Chiguotian holding a mandolin, intent on playing. The obverse portrays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is decorated with selective gold plating. The limited mintage equals only 555 pieces worldwide.
