Mars & Uranus – Continuation of Cosmic “Planets and Gods” Series!

2020-06-26

This year we presented two coins from a popular “Planets and Gods” series. We remind you that the first coin from this series is the Mercury coin. In turn, the second and third ones are the Mars and Uranus coins.
The Mars coin is dedicated to the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System after Mercury – Mars.

Mars bears its name in honor of the Roman god of war due to its red appearance. The god is depicted on the coin as an armed warrior. In different cultures, Mars represents masculinity, youth, and its symbol is used as the symbol for the male gender. The masculine energy of Mars shows the projection of our vital energy and emotion, and it indicates our passion, motivation, and determination.

The Uranus coin represents the seventh planet from the Sun – Uranus. It is the planet whose name is derived directly from a figure of Greek mythology. Uranus was the ancient Greek deity of the Heavens and the earliest supreme god.

On the coin, he is depicted as a gigantic man with long muscular arms and legs, holding the zodiac-wheel. The blue color of Uranus comes from its atmosphere. This planet is composed mostly of hydrogen, helium, and methane with trace amounts of other elements and molecules. This substance causes the blue-green color of Uranus. Uranus, with its featureless, blue-green disk, is the only planet to be named after a Greek and not a Roman god. He ruled the universe, and his name means sky.

These coins are similar in their conception and design. The first common feature is the coin’s background – in the Mars coin, it is tinted red in order to match the planet’s bloody color, while the background of the Uranus coin is tinted in a blue-green color that is the color of the Uranus planet. It creates an interesting contrast with high relief images of Mars and Uranus gods. Besides, both coins are antique finished and decorated with digital printing. The Mercury coin (the first coin in “Planets and Gods” series) has also the same characteristics.

A perfect choice for the admirers of space and ancient mythology!
